Given the environment in which the ad is running, it is imperative that a print advertisement accomplish at least one for the following objectives:
The ad must either (1) create name recognition or (2) provide a call to action.
Therefore, to be most effective, the print ad needs to be placed and positioned in publications and media vehicles that are read and consumed by your target prospect.
The creative message of the ad will be influenced by the marketing strategy being used i.e. whom you are trying to reach and what you are asking them to do. The ad should answer the following question that is frequently asked by the consumer:
“What’s in it for me?, What are they asking me to do? Who is asking me? And why should I become a customer of this company or organization? More specifically, the ad should motivate the reader to do one of the following: call for further information, call to schedule an appointment, visit a web site, complete an order form or come to a store or office to purchase a product or service.
